Horses On Internet

General Horse Articles - Horses on the Web
The Internet has thousands of horsey Web sites for you to investigate.

If you have access to a computer when you are at home or at school, you have access to a whole world of horses. The Internet has thousands of horsey Web sites for you to investigate.

If you've got a question about horses, just click a few buttons, check out a few Web sites and you're bound to find the answer to your query. If you want to find out about a breed, it's likely that there are several sites dedicated to that kind of horse. If you want to make new friends, there are plenty of horse clubs on the Internet that you can join. Once you are a club member, you'll be able to participate in live chats all about horses. What fun! And if you need a horse product and can't find it in your local tack shop, you'll be able to order it off the Web in no time at all.

Ways the Web Can Be Useful To You:

  • You can look up information about a breed.
  • You can check out a new equine product.
  • If your pony has a health problem, you can do some research on it on the Web.
  • If you have a riding problem, you might find a site that gives you ways to solve it.
  • You can find out how to adopt a horse.
  • Do you have to do a school or 4-H project about horses? You'll find tons of information on the Web.
  • Got a question about horses and can't find the answer? Post your question on a site's chatroom and other people will write to you and give you their answers.

    Getting Started on the Web
If you want to learn about something horsey, there are two easy ways to do it. Most Internet services have something called a search engine that helps you look for things. When you find the "search" command on the screen, click on it. It will ask you to type in the name of the thing you want to learn about. Once you hit Enter, the search engine will search the Web looking for your subject. If you are lucky, the search engine will come up with a few sites relating to your subject.

Another way to look for horsey Web sites is to go on the Haynet. This is a gigantic Web site with tons of links to other horsey sites. If you can't find something on the Haynet, it probably doesn't exist! Type in www.freerein.com/haynet and you'll be in equine cyberspace in no time. What are you waiting for? Log on and have fun!

    Web Warning!
Never give out information about yourself on the Web. Not everyone is honest, and even though a chatroom friend might seem like a nice person, there are a lot of weirdos out there! It's best to protect your privacy. Don't give anyone your address or phone number via the Web, and never arrange to meet anyone. If someone is acting strange in a chatroom, tell your parents immediately so they can inform the people who manage the site that there is a problem.
