DIY Horsey Bookmarks

If you’re an avid reader and plan on diving into a good book, you should make your own DIY horsey bookmarks to keep your place during all your reading. These super easy felt bookmarks will make a statement and bring your horsey flair along anywhere you go.

Materials

â—† Assorted colored felt
â—† Assorted colored flat elastic
â—† Hot glue gun or fabric glue
â—† Scissors
â—† Printed templates (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Cut out shapes from the felt that can be layered together. For a flower, make sure to include petals, leaves, or stem.

TIP: Find a shape online and print out multiple copies. For each copy, cut out a different shape (petals, leaves, et cetera) and use it as a template when cutting out your felt pieces. By using different pieces of the same shape, you will achieve the layered look pictured here. 

Step 2: Using fabric glue or a hot glue gun with adult supervision, glue your pieces together in layers. Let dry or cool.

Step 3: Measure your elastic around your favorite book to determine the best size bookmark. Cut your elastic and glue one end to the back of your bookmark shape. Then glue the other end on top of the first end. Don’t forget to make sure the elastic makes a circle without twisting.

Step 4: Open a good book and start reading, and don’t forget to use your new horsey bookmark to hold your place!
