Looking to make some homemade goodies for your horse? Try these DIY banana horse treats! This recipe contains only horse-safe ingredients, but if you have any concerns, be sure to speak with your veterinarian.
Ingredients
◆ 2 cups rolled oats
◆ ¾ cups oat flour
◆ 2 mashed bananas
◆ 1-2 bananas sliced (for the top of each treat)
◆ ½ cup no-sugar-added apple sauce
◆ 2 tablespoons coconut oil
◆ ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
◆ ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350° F.
Step 2: Combine rolled oats, oat flour, cinnamon and salt in a bowl and set aside.
Step 3: In a separate bowl, mix applesauce and mashed bananas together. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and combine.
Step 4: If your coconut oil is solid, melt and then add to mixture.
Step 5: Grease mini muffin pan and scoop mixture into muffin cups.
Step 6: Add one sliced banana to each treat and press down gently.
Step 7: Bake for 20-25 minutes or until edges start to turn golden brown.
Step 8: Remove from oven and let cool. Take to the barn and let your horse enjoy!
Makes approximately 30 treats.
